Ten new champions have claimed victory at the Rip Curl GromSearch Oz Cup in Coffs Harbour last week, a landmark union of two prestigious legacy events for juniors; The Oz Grom Cup and the Rip Curl GromSearch Series.
All competitors had to pull on all their experience and knowledge with some impressive surfing to out do the field and secure those results.
U18 Girls Winner and Rip Curl team rider Isla Huppatz (Burleigh, QLD) expressed her joy as she got chaired up the beach at the conclusion of her final. Isla said “The waves were pretty tricky but I was lucky to get a few in the last ten minutes. I was a bit panicked but calmed myself down a bit after finding a good left, although it definitely came right down to the buzzer as there were plenty of waves coming through”.
Northern Beaches young gun Ben Zanatta Creagh (North Steyne, NSW) also came away with a win in the U16 Boys Final after dominating the field with his aggression and passion in the water.
“It was a sick final with the boys! Everything kind of just went to plan for me so I was so stoked,” shared Benny.
