North Narrabeen delivered an action-packed opening day of the Surfboard Empire Pro Junior presented by Florence Marine X, with powerful, committed surfing setting the benchmark from the first heat.

Conditions rewarded surfers willing to push their limits, with big turns and aggressive rail work proving the difference across the early rounds.

Macklin Flynn was quick to set the tone, opening the event with a standout performance that established the level required to progress through the draw.

As competition moved into the Round of 64, the intensity lifted, with several key names making their mark. Dane Henry posted a strong 7.50 and 6.93 heat total, signalling he will be one to watch as the event unfolds.

One of the stories of the day came from Mac Brindley, whose composed and committed approach saw him progress through the rounds and into the Quarterfinals, emerging as a standout performer among the field.

Sammy Lowe continued to build momentum throughout the day, showcasing speed and power on his backhand. His 7.17 in the Round of 32 highlighted his ability to deliver under pressure, positioning himself as a strong finals contender.

Among the highest scoring waves of the day were Taj Air’s 8.33 and Landon Smales’ 8.00, with both surfers demonstrating the kind of explosive surfing that could prove decisive in the later stages of the event.

Attention now turns to the Women’s Pro Junior, set to commence tomorrow, with a stacked field ready to take on the world-class conditions at North Narrabeen.
