Highly anticipated Groms Event Returns this April

Published on 01/02/2023

Surfing NSW is stoked to announce the Billabong Oz Grom Cup presented by Coopers Surf Australia is returning to Coffs Harbour in April 2023.

Celebrating its tenth year, the prestigious five-day event will kick off from the 15th – 19th April, and will cater to over 200 talented grommets.

Surfing NSW Head of Events, Competition and Pathways Tom Dickson said, “The Billabong Oz Grom Cup is a great pathway for junior athletes, with the event being ranked a 6 Star (6500 points) that go towards to State and National Rankings which makes this one of the marque events in the calendar.”

The contest is mobile to maximise opportunities for the best available surf in the Coffs Coast region. The prime location will be Park Beach, whilst North Wall, McCauley’s Beach, Sawtell, Gallows, and Diggers Beach are all backup locations.

Please call the event hotline (0458 247 212) after 6:45 am each day of the event for the confirmed location. Alternatively, please download the Telegram app to your mobile device and join the Surfing NSW – Junior News text line by joining this link  . This text line will provide important information and reminders through the lead-up and duration of all Junior events.

Entries will open on Thursday the 2nd February 5pm and close on Tuesday 7th February 2023.

All competitors will be put on a waitlist for their respective divisions and successful entrants will be given the opportunity to purchase their tickets once entries have been confirmed.

Seeding and entry for the event will be determined as per the Surfing Australia National Ranking Process (page 10).
