2023 NSW Sufmasters Cancelled Due To Unforeseen Circumstances

Published on 04/06/2023

The 2023 NSW Surfmasters State Titles at Boomerang Beach was unable to be completed as planned this weekend.

On Sunday morning, sharks were spotted by the Surf Life Saving NSW UAV and jetski operators. As per Surfing NSW event safety protocol, once a shark is spotted the event is immediately put on hold.

The Surfing NSW team consulted with Surf Life Saving NSW UAV and water safety teams as well as held discussions with the competitors and it was decided that due to time limitations, the full schedule was unable to be completed with the option of running remaining heats in the coming months.

The safety and well-being of competitors and event staff is paramount, and Surfing NSW prioritise safety above all else.

Surfing NSW thanks all competitors for their understanding and will continue to communicate with all remaining competitors in the coming weeks to finalise heats and complete the event ahead of the Australian Surfing Titles.
