SCARBOROUGH WIN AUSTRALIAN BOARDRIDERS BATTLE AT KIAMA.

Published on 11/12/2021

Scarborough Boardriders have claimed the Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle NSW southern qualifier after a day of intense surfing in solid four-to-five foot conditions at Jones Beach.

The Illawarra based club set a high standard over the duration of the day with the team consistently posting high scores across all the rounds of competition.

Anchored by former WSL Qualifying Series stalwart Nic Squires, the team was able to put on a show in the final with the club getting the upper hand against local club Jones Beach, Cronulla Sharks and Maroubra United who finished in second, third and fourth respectively.

“It feels so relieving to claim another one of these titles,” said Squires. “I think all the surfers in the club work incredibly well together and really complement each other. I feel like all the team really stuck to the game plan and didn’t chew up too much time, surfed the conditions to the best of their ability and didn’t feel too much pressure with surfing in a team atmosphere.”

The prime locations for the Australian Boardriders Battle were Jones Beach with backup locations of Bombo, Kiama Surf Beach and Werri.
