RED BULL FOAM WRECKERS IS COMING TO MANLY THIS SUMMER

Published on 25/11/2021

Red Bull is bringing you the world’s first participatory soft-board surf series, Red Bull Foam Wreckers to beaches around Australia and will be touching down in Manly Beach on 12 February 2022. The new event series is brought to Australia from the mind of global surfing sensation Jamie O’Brien and produced by Red Bull.

Red Bull Foam Wreckers is the ‘anti-contest’ surf contest you can actually surf in. Unlike a traditional surf contest the judging criteria is centred around having the most fun you can possibly have on a wave.

Before your heat you will spin the Wheel of Shred to determine which soft-board craft you’re going to rip on. You’ll paddle out with 6-10 of your closest (new) friends all on different soft-boards and proceed to stake your claim as the most “unique” soft-board surfer of the next 15 minutes.

With three events held across Australia, male and female surfers from beginners to pros will have the opportunity to enter into the world’s most fun and creative surf competition. The clean, safe, outdoor and socially distanced event dubbed the “world’s most fun surf competition” is where surf meets fun and creativity. Red Bull Foam Wreckers Australia edition is kicking off in Margaret River WA on the 18th December, followed by Manly NSW on the 12th February and Gold Coast, QLD on the 19th February, 2022.

“The whole soft board movement is so fun, and the relatability of people surfing carefree is so appealing,” says Jamie O’Brien. “I feel like Red Bull Foam Wreckers is the coolest contest in the world, because anybody could win. It’s not about how good you are, it’s about how much fun you can have and how creative you can be.”

“I want to see all the kids, all the families and all the local heroes show up, and I want to put on the best event possible for them,” continues O’Brien. “This is what life is all about, having fun and getting together! And it’s really cool that we will be out there having fun in a safe environment. If there’s anybody who wants to come down to their local event, but is worried it’s too far of a drive… I can promise you, Red Bull Foam Wreckers is going to be worth it!”

Mick Fanning who will be at the Gold Coast Foam Wreckers event agrees. “This is a great competition with the big focus on fun. The softboard element will challenge some people but will also see some great surfing. Really looking forward to some fun days of surfing, said Fanning.
