PADDLE OUT FOR JOHN ‘SHMOO’ SHIMOOKA AND SPREADING OF ASHES.

There will be two paddle out locations this Saturday the 12th of December at 12:12pm to remember John “Shmoo” Shimooka 
1) North Cronulla and 2) North Narrabeen both in Sydney.  

There will only be one location which will spread his ashes throughout the paddle out which is the Cronulla location.

Registering will help provide the family with an indication of numbers on the day and have you checked in quicker and assist tick the COVID requirements and procedures.

For Cronulla all details and times are in the link above but the main briefing will be at 1130am followed by all heading down the beach to paddle out at 1145am ready to form the circle in the ocean at 12pm. Spreading of the ashes will be at 12:12pm in the ocean.  If you have purchased a tee shirt you will need to pick this up earlier from 1030am – 1130am at Dunningham park. 

After the paddle out at Cronulla please join us for drinks at The Alley Bar at the Rydges Hotel from 1pm-4pm. 

*Please note tee shirts will only be available to be picked up from the Cronulla location. 


The North Narrabeen location will be run throughout the Surfing NSW Australian Boardriders Battle event which will stop for this paddle out so all staff and competitors can be part of it. Surfing NSW along with North Narrabeen boardriders will coordinate this paddle out. 

For North Narrabeen paddle out please just simply show up and no need to pre-register

The plan at Narrabeen is;
– meet at 11:15am at North Narrabeen Surf Club and check-in 
– Briefing at 11:30am
– Gather on the beach at 1140am 
– Paddle out at 11:45am
– Form circle in water 12:10pm
– Words to be spoken 12:12pm 

Please note at present the swell is looking like 2m – 2.5m in Sydney this weekend.
