Event Update: Berry SUP Team’s Classic Postponed

Published on 18/03/2022

EVENT UPDATE:

After consultation with our management and the NSW Sport & Rec Centre post-flood, we have decided to postpone the upcoming Berry SUP Teams Classic.

The Sport & Rec centre sustained damage to the road leading to the property and Broughton Creek and surrounding waterways have been reporting poor water quality.

We are looking to move the event to later in the year and possibly introduce another event in the series. Stay tuned to our website and social channels for further updates and info.

Read Below for the outline of the event, gather your team and get ready to enter.

Surfing NSW will teaming up with James Casey and the SUP community, launching a club/team event to grow the grassroots of the sport. This Berry SUP Team’s Classic is the pilot and we hope SUP Clubs can get behind it. The event will take place in the Shoalhaven region. The more members you have to compete, the more likely your club will win the overall crown!

“This event is exactly what SUP in Australia needs. I hope this event creates a new dimension of fun and competition, covering just about all aspects of the sport and growing the grassroots to ensure a long future for SUP.

Get down to the Berry SUP Team’s Classic and take part in flat water, ocean, sprint and relay events to battle for Club bragging rights. Every participant across the line counts towards the overall point score in this new and exciting format,” James Casey.

When: DATES TBC
Friday – SUP Clinic with James Casey (limit 8 spots) in Broughton Creek, launching from Berry Sport and Recreation Centre
Saturday  – Individual distances races (2.5km, 7.5km, 15km) in Broughton Creek, launching from Berry Sport and Recreation Centre.
