New January dates have been released for Rip Curl GromSearch surfing events in Victoria and NSW, ensuring multiple locations for the 2021/22 series.
With COVID-19 regulations postponing the original dates in the September school holidays, GromSearch authorities have worked to secure alternate dates for the respective events, into the new year.
The Rip Curl GromSearch is an iconic series of events for junior surfers that started in Australia and has developed in over 10 other countries. Organisers were committed to continuing this focus on the development and support of the next generation of surfing talent, whilst following the appropriate COVID-19 regulations and protocol.
“We want to run the Rip Curl GromSearch series whenever we can, so we are committed to finding new dates for the crew in Vic and NSW” commented Rip Curl Marketing Manager Angus Forrest. “It’s been a tough 18 months for everyone, so we’re stoked to work with the states and find a way to run the series. Hopefully it provides a bit of fun for the groms and we score some pumping waves”.
Nuatali Nelmes, Lord Mayor City of Newcastle stated: “City of Newcastle is pleased to support The Rip Curl GromSearch series. Newcastle’s reputation as a surfing mecca has been cemented by our long-running home-grown event Surfest, Surfing Australia’s National Boardriders Battle and our inclusion on the WSL Championship Tour in 2021. We look forward to seeing the next generation of talented young surfers test their skills on our renowned surf breaks during this fantastic event.”
