MINISTERS SUPPORT SURFING NSW’S CREATIVE KIDS PROGRAM.

Published on 18/11/2020

Minister for Customer Service, the Hon. Victor Dominello MP, Member for Manly, James Griffin and Minister for the Arts, Don Harwin have put their support behind Surfing NSW’s new Creative Kids Program.

The program is a six-week course where participants will learn the basics of surf photography, filming and content creation as well as tips to build a portfolio and get their work seen.

The program will develop a creative skillset for high-school-aged participants through a series of online modules.

All classes are covered by the $100 Creative Kids voucher (available to download from Service NSW). In addition, all participants will receive a prize pack from our sponsors Havaianas, discounts on equipment from AquaTech as well as money-can’t-buy experiences with some of the most renowned photographers and filmers in surfing.

Dominello and Griffin joined Create NSW, Surfing NSW and local northern beaches photographers at Manly Beach on Friday, 13 November to officially endorse the program.

Minister for Customer Service the Hon. Victor Dominello MP said: “The Creative Kids program has been a big hit with the families of NSW and with summer around the corner I encourage parents to enrol their children in programs and redeem their $100 voucher.”

“This Surfing NSW program is unique and another clever way to engage young people in surfing. NSW surfing legends Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore would not be the stars they are today without the incredible work done by photographers and filmmakers behind the scenes.”

Minister for the Arts, Don Harwin said: “The ocean has been a source of inspiration throughout history, and this Creative Kids course from Surfing NSW will give the next generation of young artists the skills to explore their creative expression through the natural environment. Surfing NSW joins over 4,000 outstanding organisations providing Creative Kids experiences to families in NSW.”

Over the course of the program, Surfing NSW will aim to provide all students with skills that they will be able to grow and use to best capture their love of the ocean and showcase each of their unique perspectives.

The first five modules in the Surfing NSW Creative Kids program have all been launched.

Participants can join any time and are free to binge-watch all six episodes at their convenience.
