Entries Open: NSW Junior Regional Titles Return to Discover and Challenge Local Talent

Published on 11/02/2022

Surfing’s youngest emerging talent will meet defending champions and current junior competitors when the 2022 Ocean and Earth NSW Junior Regional Titles return to 11 regions between April and June.

The Junior Regional Titles is the opportunity for under 12, 14, 16 and 18 divisions to challenge themselves and take their competitive surfing to the next level. Entries are open from 5pm, Friday 11 February 2022.

All competitors entering in the Regional Titles will hold a spot in their respective State Titles. Winners of each division will guarantee the top seeded entry into the 2022 State Titles made up of the Woolworths NSW Junior Titles (U16 and U18) and 2022 Havaianas NSW Grommet Titles (U12 and U14). The results of these two events determine the NSW Junior Team to represent their state at the Australian Titles.

The champions of the NSW Junior Regional Titles will be following the path of their heroes with Australia’s most successful elite surfers, all previous regional winners.

“Every single surfer on the 2022 World Championship Tour is a previous NSW Regional Titles Champion which is great motivation and pathway for our future champions,” said Surfing NSW CEO Luke Madden.

“Molly Picklum, Jordy Lawler, Callum Robson, Connor O’Leary, Macy Callaghan, Jackson Baker, Morgan Ciblic, Sally Fitzgibbons, Owen and Tyler Wright, have all come through the Surfing NSW development pathways so it’s exciting to see who is emerging each year at these events,” said Madden.

With the 2020 and 2021 Junior Regional Titles incomplete in many areas due to COVID-19, the state’s junior surfers are more keen than ever to get back into a competition rash vest and see how they’re performing within their region.

The NSW Junior Regional Titles are supported by Surfing NSW and run within each region.
