All In: U12 Girls Bring the Energy to URBNSURF Sydney for a Junior Development Day

The tub was pumping and the grommies lit it up. Our U12 Girls Junior Development session took over URBNSURF Sydney with full-send energy, guided by legendary coach, surfer and our Technical Performance Manager Jarrad Howse. The day included a Progressive Turns Right session, a feedback session with Jarrad and pool snack break, followed by an Intermediate Left session.

It was inspiring to see these same girls step it up at our State Classic in Coffs Harbour, throwing down with confidence and courage on open ocean walls.

“Everyone from our team was so stoked to see you all give it a go, whether you caught waves or paddled out. You were our absolute heroes of the comp,” our CEO Lucas Townsend told the girls.

From foam climbs to high lines and big first turns, the girls shone in the lineup once again, with big grins and even bigger commitment.

“It was a good opportunity to see everyone again and have fun. Sitting in the lineup, chatting with everyone, getting to know them, and a big countdown when all the waves came. We are excited to do it all again!” said Cleo and Sage before eagerly paddling out for their Intermediate left session.

“They are just psyched. It’s such a good vibe, hearing them hoot and hola and cheer each other on,” added Coach Jarrad Howse.

We’re backing the next wave and building belief. Creating space for our juniors to grow by crafting clear pathways and giving our groms the tools to rise to that next-level.

“With this age group it’s all about the fundamentals,” said Coach Howse on deck. “We’re focusing on getting their bottom turns right and committing to each turn with purpose.”

The girls were all in. With big grins and buzzing energy, they responded confidently,
“We’re just going to go for it. Pop up really quick and have a good angle.”

“The girls were pushing boundaries. The level is insane. Mind-blowing. I think the future of women’s surfing is really bright,” emphasised Coach Howse, stoked on the talent and energy coming through.

To top it off, their hero, North Shelly Boardriders raised and current world yellow jersey holder, Molly Picklum, turned up for a session after the girls, rounding out a dreamy day at the tub for the grommies.

For a day with the girls, check out our socials and unlock your potential, like they did, with a Winter Warrior pool pass.

Big love to these young girls leading the charge. The future is bright, bold and already paddling out.
