DAY 1/5: Rip Curl GromSearch Oz Cup, covered by Sun Bum 2025

Conditions started-off 2ft and clean for the first day of competition at North Diggers Beach, Coffs Harbour. With crystal-clear walls rolling through on the mid-tide for most of the day, this was no-doubt shown to be an ideal playground for the U/12s to tear into this morning.

In the U/12 Boys, Hayden Mee laid down an 8.0, linking three big hits and a strong finish. Jack Yarrow followed suit in Heat 7 with a solid 7.0. Whilst, in the U/12 Girls, Sage Fleming and Cobie O’Day made the most of the morning glass, dropping a 7.0 and 7.33 respectively, both showcasing style and smarts beyond their years.

Heat of the day? Hands-down Heat 1 of the U/14 Boys, with a wave-for-wave shootout between Morrison Massey and Jarrah White. Both surfers went top to bottom with flow and flair, Morrison edging ahead with a 14.8 total to Jarrah’s 13.9. Joakim Bjorck delivered the highest heat total of the day with a silky 15.50, led by a backhand 8.33 and backed by a stylish 7.17. Smooth, powerful and composed.

Although, conditions then went tough for the last two hours of comp but still saw some good scores rolling out the day with a neat 13.10 and win to go along with it for Tully Crompton.
