he Woolworths NSW Juniors State Titles presented by Ocean and Earth saw an action-packed day today as Under-16 and Under-18 champions were crowned in challenging one-to-two foot conditions at Corrimal.
Local Illawarra surfers Lennix Smith (Barrack Point) and Oceanna Rogers (Shellcove) shone in the conditions today with both surfers showing their nous in the small conditions.
Smith was particularly impressive in the tricky surf to finish the final with a massive 16.56 two-wave heat total, which enabled him to claim his third NSW State Title in as many years.
Rogers meanwhile employed similar tactics in her Under-18 final as she took the win from fellow south coast surfer Keira Buckpitt (Culburra Beach) who finished in the runner-up spot. Rogers put on an impressive display in the final, notching up a 15.10 two-wave heat total to take the win.
Eden Hasson (Port Stephens) will head home with his head held high after taking out the Under-16 Boys final. Hasson made light work of the mediocre surf as he notched up a 15.00 two-wave total to finish in the winner’s chair ahead of Hughie Vaughan (Bateau Bay) who finished in second position.
Milla Brown finished her State Title campaign with a bang as she took out the Under-16 Girls final. Brown flared in the final exchange, nailing an array of decent and technical forehand hits to win the final with a 15.63 two-wave heat total.

The Under-14 division will hit the water tomorrow.
The competition will commence each day at 7:30 am with the call for the day’s schedule and location confirmed via the event hotline at 6:45 am. The event hotline is 0458 247 212.
The event is expected to attract approximately 250 promising junior surfers to the Wollongong region.
Prime locations for the event are Sandon Point and Woonona.
Seeding for each age division was determined by the Surfing NSW State Rankings.

U18’s (Boys & Girls): Thursday 18th – Saturday 20th November 2021
U16’s (Boys & Girls): Wednesday 17th – Saturday 20th November 2021
U14’s (Boys & Girls): Saturday 20th – Monday 22nd November 2021
The event will run in a straight knock-out format, under four-person priority rules.
