OCEAN AND EARTH NSW JUNIOR TITLES – ILLAWARRA RESULTS

Published on 10/05/2021

The BlueScope WIN Community Partners Illawarra Junior Regional Titles proudly supported by Mambo, Ocean & Earth and Hydro Flask were held in beautiful 2 to 4-foot waves in Bellambi Harbour on Saturday 8 May 2021.

With an east coast low producing large waves right across the Illawarra, we had to find contestable waves for our young kids. The winds were offshore all day making for dreamy conditions across the coast with 8 to 10 foot waves.

Bellambi Harbour was the perfect location for the competition with 2 to 4-foot waves all day with light offshore winds.

Lennix Smith stamped his authority in the u/18’s in the first heat of the day dropping a 9.5 with a huge back hand air reverse that Italo Ferreira would have been proud of. Lennix Smith taking out the u/18 final in convincing fashion over Taj Simon, Dylan Gray and Oscar Hargreaves.

In the u/18 girls Oceanna Rodgers dominated the final over Anna Chamberlin and Coco Badger.

Mannix Squires continued his good form heading into the state titles with a great win the u/16 boys just edging out Jarvie Robson, Cash Smith and Joshua Marsh.

The u/16 girls was a bit of sibling rivalry with the short sister going toe to toe and it was Zahlia Short who gets to miss out on doing the dishes at home taking the win over sister Shyla with Bodhi Simon in 3rd and Jada Thomas in 4th.

Taj Air stepped into the winner’s circle in the u/14 boys taking out Charlie Lamberger, Cooper Palmer and Kye Kulmar.

The u/14 girls had a sigh of relief with the venue change from Woonona to Bellambi as too were the parents and it was Sophie Lamberger who took full advantage of the beautiful conditions taking the win ahead of Macey Jolley and Neve Dignam.

The u/12 boys were frothing all day and it was the king of the froth Jesse Fitzgibbon getting the win over Jett Blue Ashton Mekisic and Cruz Air.

A massive thank you to Woonona Boardriders for hosting the event and making sure all competitors were safe and having an enjoyable and memorable event.
